Some Nickelodeon stars will help call the Super Bowl this year, including SpongeBob, Patrick Star, and Sandy Cheeks.

Super Bowl LVIII will have a unique perspective from the famous cartoon characters this year. Paramount Global aims to have this for children so they can enjoy the game with relatable content, according to Variety.

SpongeBob and other Nickelodeon characters comment on Super Bowl LVIII

As Nate Burleson and Noah Eagle will call the game, SpongeBob and the gang will be more commentators. Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke will voice SpongeBob and Patrick Star. Carolyn Lawrence voices Sandy Cheeks, who will be on the sidelines. And Larry Lobster, also voiced by Lawrence, will add live commentary to the football game.

It's not just the SpongeBob team. Dora the Explorer, voiced by Diana Zermeño, will explain penalty calls, along with Boots, voiced by Asher Colton Spence. Plus, NFL Slimetime will be represented by Young Dylan and Dylan Schefter as they report on the game.

This is a new way for the NFL to reach younger audiences. It's had other alternate ways of broadcasting games in the past. One effort was the ManningCast, which features the Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli. Additionally, Disney's Freeform tried an NFL Wild Card game geared towards teens and young adults.

Super Bowl is by far the NFL's most valuable property, so giving a new version of the game to a younger audience seems like a good way to expand the fan base.

Tune in to watch SpongeBob and other Nickelodeon favorites on February 11, 2024, for Super Bowl LVIII.
