Houston Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson is waiting for his payday following the earth-shattering news of Kansas City Chiefs star gunslinger (and friend) Patrick Mahomes agreeing to a $500 million contract extension over 10 years on Monday.

After ESPN's Adam Schefter shared news about the contract details in Mahomes' new deal, Texans linebacker Dylan Cole tagged the 24-year-old two-time Pro Bowl signal-caller on Twitter, with Watson seeing the message and adding a meme reaction to the shout out.

Watson and Mahomes were selected two spots apart in the 2017 NFL Draft, with Houston taking the Clemson standout at No. 12 and Texas Tech product Mahomes going at No. 10, having to play behind starter Alex Smith for a year before his breakout MVP season in 2018 with Kansas City.

Watson and Mahomes also faced off in this past postseason, with the Chiefs mounting a vicious double-digit first-half comeback and downing the Texans in the divisional round. Mahomes later won Super Bowl MVP honors with the Chiefs in February earlier this year.

The two quarterbacks, in spite of their frequent on-field clashes, happen to be good friends as well.

“It’s cool to see a friend of mine and a guy that’s playing the same position as me have so much success,” Watson said, via ProFootballTalk. “It’s going to be dope. We played earlier this year, it was a good game, went back and forth. It’s just two good teams going head to head and we’re just trying to be the best we can for our team and help our team win.”

As happy as Watson is to see his pal get paid, it's inevitable the Texans star will start getting anxious to see how he negotiates an extension with Houston next.
