The Houston Texans are defying the odds by taking a big lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game. They are also setting franchise records. With the first quarter finally coming to a close, Houston has already achieved numerous playoff firsts versus the Chiefs per NFL Research.

To begin the game, the Texans faced a third and one near midfield. After faking a bubble screen to Will Fuller, Deshaun Watson connected with Kenny Stills for a 54-yard touchdown to give Houston an early lead.

The long touchdown pass to Stills was actually the first 50-yard touchdown pass in Texans' playoff history. The Texans have a group of offensive weapons that could score points in bunches.

On the Chiefs' ensuing drive, the Texans' defense was able to force them into a quick three and out. Then, on the punt, Barkevious Mingo was able to get his hand on the punt and Lonnie Johnson Jr. returned it for a touchdown.

During the punt block by Mingo, Houston set two playoff firsts by blocking a punt for the first time. In addition, Johnson's punt block touchdown was the first one in franchise playoff history.

Coming into the game, Kansas City was nearly 10-point favorites as the No. 2 seed in the AFC. But as the Tennessee Titans did versus the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, the Texans are proving that seeding doesn't matter in the postseason.

There is still plenty of time for the Texans to set more franchise playoff records against the Chiefs. At the same time, there is more than enough time for Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City to make a miraculous comeback.
