The Houston Texans will get J.J. Watt back on the field for the team's playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. To make room on the roster for Watt, Houston has placed safety Tashaun Gipson on injured reserve per Field Yates.

Watt has been sidelined by a torn pectoral since the team's Week 8 contest against the Oakland Raiders in October. The All-Pro defensive end has been ahead of schedule in his recovery and returned to practice this week.

As for Tashaun Gipson, the Texans have opted to end his first season with the team after he dealt with multiple injuries.

The Texans signed Tashaun Gipson during the offseason after he spent his previous seven seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ultimately, the veteran safety was able to suit up in 14 games for Houston in 2019. In his 14 starts, Tashaun Gipson accumulated 51 tackles, eight pass deflections, three interceptions, and a defensive touchdown. Gipson's three interceptions were the most on the team.

Considering Tashaun Gipson's production, the Texans will miss his presence in the secondary on Saturday versus the Bills. Also, Gipson's backup—Jahleel Addae—is questionable to play on Saturday due to an Achilles injury.

Addae has started in three games this season for the Texans. Over the course of the year, Addae has contributed 42 tackles, three pass deflections, and two interceptions.

In the event that Addae is inactive, either A.J. Moore or Mike Adams would likely receive the start at free safety. Houston, without Tashaun Gipson, would probably side with Adams due to his experience in the playoffs.
