The Houston Texans have been riding the strength of their defense led by J.J. Watt over the last half-decade, but last season, he was lost early to injury. Fortunately, rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson emerged—until he was also lost to a season-ending injury.

Fans will be glad to know that both appear to be well on the road to recovery. At least it looks like they are in a video Watt recently posted to Twitter:

Watt is a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner. While he has been hampered by injuries the last two years (his back in 2016; leg fracture in 2017). In his absence, Jadeveon Clowney has become the force he was expected to be when the Texans drafted him. Whitney Mercilus has thrived in Watt’s absence as well.

If all three could actually remain healthy for a season, the Texans front four will be formidable. Of course, the Texans need some help in the secondary and are thin at linebacker (but fans are likely hoping the team addresses those needs in free agency and the draft).

In 2017, Watson gave NFL fans an incredible preview of what he and the Texans offense can be capable of accomplishing. Of course, the success of the offense in 2018 will depend on how well he can recover from ACL surgery. He did just fine when he tore his right ACL his freshman season at Clemson.

Fans can only hope the same will be true for the left ACL tear he suffered last season.
