Stephen Curry has had quite a memorable year both on and off the court. After winning his fourth NBA title with the Golden State Warriors, he will soon have his college basketball legacy be forever enshrined.

Davidson Director of Athletics Chris Clunie announced on Friday that the school is set to hold a graduation ceremony for Curry on Aug. 31, where the eight-time All-Star will receive his degree. Clunie further added that the school will not only induct him into the Davidson Athletics Hall of Fame, but it will also retire his No. 30 jersey and number.

Even as multiple NBA players have had their number retired at their alma mater over the years, Davidson made no exceptions for Curry, as it holds a long-standing policy that it only retires the jerseys of those who graduated at the school. Curry did not complete his sociology degree when he officially declared for the draft 13 years ago.

Curry still aimed to earn his college degree from Davidson even after he left the school. He noted in 2015 that he made a “promise” to both his family and now-former Davidson head coach Bob McKillop that he would finish his degree.

During the NBA lockout in 2011, Curry elected to take a trio of courses for his sociology degree. And after enrolling in this year’s spring semester, the Warriors guard put the finishing touches on his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in sociology, as he wrapped up his final coursework in May to complete his undergraduate degree.

Curry left quite a legacy during his three-season run at Davidson. He guided its men’s basketball program to an appearance in the Elite Eight in the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and then went on to lead the NCAA in points per game (28.9) over his final campaign with the Wildcats.

Overall, Curry is set to be the seventh player in the program's history to have their jersey retired.
