Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says superstar point guard Stephen Curry must complete contact practices, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 before being cleared for a March return.

Curry broke his hand on Oct. 30 against the Phoenix Suns and underwent his first surgery on Nov. 1. The Warriors’ floor general told reporters in November he “definitely” expects to return at some point this season.

Before he got hurt, Curry was putting up 20.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 24.3 percent from beyond the arc and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line.

Curry signed a five-year, $201 million deal with the Warriors back in the summer of 2017. He is due to make $40.2 million this season alone.

The Warriors will miss the playoffs this 2019-20 campaign for the first time in the Steve Kerr era. Golden State has dominated the past five years since Kerr took the job, winning three titles in the process.

However, a slew of injuries hampered what should have been a competitive campaign for the Dubs.

Some believe Curry should sit out the entire season, but that is not the way the sharpshooting great is wired. He is a competitor who finds joy in playing and it is also the reason why he is so beloved in Golden State.
