The Chicago White Sox have stayed pretty steady all season long as they try and make a trip to the World Series. The White Sox have dealt with some injuries but have managed to maintain a comfortable lead in the American League Central.
Well, the White Sox received some unfortunate news regarding Cy Young candidate Lance Lynn. According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, Lynn is headed to the IL with September practically here.
This could be a big blow for Chicago, although manager Tony LaRussa didn't seem too concerned with Lynn's timeframe.
Lynn has been sensational all season and has a 104 record with a 2.59 ERA in 24 starts for Chicago. For what it's worth, the White Sox have a commanding 10 game lead over the Cleveland Indians for the AL Central lead and if Lynn only does miss one start, that certainly bodes well for LaRussa's team.
Lynn also has the lowest ERA in the American League and should definitely be considered a Cy Young candidate.
They also just got Carlos Rodon back as well so they are getting healthy for the playoffs. For the time being, it looks like they will just miss him once in the rotation and he should be back soon.
