Chad Gable did not have a very good day on Monday Night.

First, he lost his match to Braun Strowman trying to get back on top of the RAW rankings in the pursuit of the Intercontinental Championship, falling short of expectations against a supersized foe with a 6-0 record in 2024.

Then, Gable took an L from the Alpha Academy, with Otis, Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa seemingly dropping him for good after weeks and weeks of abuse from the diminutive former Olympian.

And last but not least, he… died?

That's right, at the end of the show, after Jey Uso secured his spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder match and the crowd celebrated the victory, Nikki Cross, dressed up similarly to Sister Abigail, emerged from a familiar door holding a blue lantern.

This heralded the debut of the Wyatt Sick6, who announced their presence by running roughshod through Gorilla Position and putting a beatdown on dozens of Superstars that left Chad Gable with what looked like a bullet hole in the side of his head.

While WWE never released an official statement and Gable hasn't commented on what happened in a public way, that didn't stop fans from immediately taking to social media to see if the “Master” was okay and pay respects to him.

They assumed he didn't survive what looked like a pretty gnarley headwound, taking the situation to its logical conclusion with all sorts of funny memes and graphics to boot.

How will WWE resolve this situation? Will Gable show up next week like nothing happened? Or will WWE instead have its Superstars know they were injured but not go full-on invasion mode where every other storyline falls by the wayside?

Only time will tell, but if you thought you were having a bad day, you can take comfort in the fact that Gable's day was probably much, much, much worse.

Chad Gable explains who decided he should turn heel in WWE.

Before being, you know, taken out by Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sick6 on RAW, the “Master” of the Alpha Academy stopped by Gorilla Position to discuss all things WWE in the lead-up to Clash at the Castle in an interview made famous for revealing that he signed an extension with the promotion.

Asked about the decision to turn heel for the first time since the inception of the Alpha Academy, turning in his bright colors and positive demeanor for business attire and a more cutthroat demeanor, Gable let it be known that he was a big believer in making the change, as he felt his time as a babyface had run its course.

“The whole idea to turn heel was kind of my idea,” Chad Gable told Gorilla Position via Fightful. “I felt like I flatlined as a babyface somewhere around WrestleMania. I came up short against Gunther a few times. Came up short against Sami.

“At a certain point, something has to change, or people are not going to buy into you any further. I had the idea. ‘Let's do it.' It just so happened we were going to be in Montreal, Sami's hometown, the week after Mania when I was having that match. I was like, ‘There could not be a better place to do this thing.'

“We made it happen, and the stars aligned. I feel like it's worked out in our favor. Since then, Otis is this perfect sympathetic guy that you can't help but feel bad for. We have everything in our favor working for us.”

Is Gable correct? Well, it depends on your take on his situation. At the time, Gable was still very much over as a babyface in WWE and might have been able to push that alongside Otis, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa on the way to becoming the RAW Tag Team Champions.

But the reactions his group would have earned would have surely begun to wane by the end of the year, with the faction once again becoming mid-carders used as fodder in other people's storylines.

By turning heel, however, Gable has been able to step out onto his own, become far more compelling as an individual, and potentially make things interesting for his former faction mates too. They now appear destined for a program with Sami Zayn should the “Master” squad up with the Creed Brothers into the future.

Will Gable, assuming he's alive, be able to get where he wants to be? Only time will tell, but it's hard to imagine that would have happened if he stayed a happy-go-lucky babyface with the rest of the Academy.
