The Undertaker will be going into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 1, right before WrestleMania 38.

The news was announced on Friday morning:

Here are some highlights of the WWE legend's career:

The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, enjoyed a legendary career spanning 30 years. He made his Undertaker debut at the 1990 Survivor series and immediately became a hit.

Calaway spoke about the character's longevity to ESPN in 2020:

“That's one reason why The Undertaker had the longevity that it did,” Calaway told ESPN in 2020. “Because all they got was The Undertaker.

“I think what really helped me [stay viable] was that I did protect that character. I didn't give them anything other than the character. You didn't see me doing movies as something else. I had opportunities to do that other stuff, but I passed. I knew wrestling. I knew WWE. I knew Vince [McMahon]. That was my passion, and to this day [it still is]. I knew I couldn't be [The Undertaker] here and then go do something else. I don't think people would have accepted it and stayed intrigued in the character.”

The Undertaker held the WWE and world heavyweight championship on several occasions, and he also had a 21 match win streak at WrestleMania before finally being bested by Brock Lesnar. Furthermore, he was a seven-time tag team titleholder, partnering up with numerous other legends of the sport.

His last match came at WrestleMania 36 before his WWE retirement on the 30th anniversary of his Survivor Series debut. Fittingly, he retired at the 2020 edition of Survivor Series.

With WrestleMania 38 coming on April 3, The Undertaker will surely be honored. Perhaps he'll even get involved somehow. Salute to a WWE legend and an incredible creator of memes and GIFs.
