Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes has been named a Cy Young finalist. Corbin Burnes will be going up against Zack Wheeler of the Philadelphia Phillies and Max Scherzer of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Burnes had arguably one of the best seasons as a pitcher that we've seen in a pretty long time. Unfortunately for him, it's going to be tough to win as Max Scherzer was completely dominant this season and was arguably the best of his career. Zack Wheeler also had an impressive season but might not have been as good as the two of them.

Burnes finished with some impressive numbers. He finished with the best ERA in the National League at 2.43. He was 11-5 on the year. On top of his league-leading ERA, Burnes finished with a 176 ERA+,1.63 FIP, 0.4 HR/9,12.6 SO9, 6.88 SO/W, which were all leagues' best.

As you can see Burnes had one of the most impressive seasons for a pitcher that you can possibly have. Unfortunately for him, he's going up against one of the best pictures of all time in Max Scherzer and it might be tough for him to overcome that. There is a great chance that Burnes does walk away with the Cy Young as the numbers are all there. Let's take a look at a few reasons why he deserves to be the Cy Young in the National League.

2 Reasons Why Burnes Will Win Cy Young

3. He led the league in ERA

Burnes was so good this season that he finished with a 2.43 ERA. Many new analytical-driven fans don't like using ERA to determine a pitcher's success, but at some point when it's this low you have to take into account how good he was. When you give up less than two and a half runs per game, there's not much more you can do as a picture to help your team win. Burnes finished 11-5 and if the Brewers didn't struggle offensively at times, he might have only finished with one or two losses.

2. Burnes was the most dominant
Burnes was incredible all-season. He was having one of the most dominant pitching seasons on a per-inning basis in the last century of baseball. There's no questioning what Burnes did this season in terms of his dominance. The Cy Young should always go to the best pitcher. Burnes did just that this season as he was by far the most dominant throughout the season.

The sticky stuff situation could hurt Burnes as he was definitely not the same picture he was pre sticky stuff. MLB knocked down on that during the middle of the season. Burnes still had impressive stuff but he was not as good as he was before. It shouldn't hurt him too much as many pictures around the league numbers also declined a little bit. It's not like it completely killed Burnes's season as she still finished leading the NL in most major pitching categories. Another thing that could hurt him is he didn't pitch as many innings as Zack Wheeler or Max Scherzer. The reason for this is because the Brewers had one of the best pitching staffs in baseball and they used a six-man rotation for a lot of the season.
