Despite the Chicago Bears again failing to make the NFL playoffs, there were some bright spots in their 2023 season. Perhaps none were bigger than DJ Moore who had a career-year in his first season in Chicago.

Moore was Justin Fields' No. 1 target and the best offensive weapon the Bears had all season. After a down year in 2022, Moore re-established himself as one of the league's best wide receivers with 1,364 yards on 96 receptions and nine total touchdowns.

It would be assumed then that a player of Moore's caliber stays active in the offseason to remain at the peak of his profession. As it turns out, the Bears star doesn’t quite care for physical activity until summer workouts begin.

“I don't do no (off-season) workouts,” Moore said on the St. Brown Bros Podcast. “I drink Mountain Dew, smoke cigars, and then when OTA's come, show up, no stretch and pop off.”

Moore already a fan favorite in Chicago

Moore joined the Bears last offseason when he was acquired as part of a package that sent the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers last March. His Chicago teammates and coaches have only one brief offseason with Moore under their belt, so it will be interesting to see how they interpret his recent comments.

DJ Moore is a fan favorite because he is unapologetically himself. That can give a player a bad rap sometimes, but Bears fans seem to like having Moore on the team. If he keeps playing like he did this season it will be hard for the Chicago faithful not to root for him.

Those who are a fan of Justin Fields are likely also a fan of Moore after the latter gave the Bears QB multiple endorsements since the end of the regular season. Moore hopes that he is still catching passes from Fields in the summer, but he'll enjoy his time off until then.
