Maybe someday Tiffany Haddish and Common will co-star in an adorable remake of the 1991 Kevin Bacon comedy He Said, She Said to tell the tale of how their relationship ended, but for now, the comedian and rapper aren't able to laugh about their differing version of events just yet. (Although someone should really get on that remake — with Tiffany Haddish starring in so many TV shows and films at the moment, she really is the Kevin Bacon of our time and Six Degrees of Tiffany Haddish would be a great party game).

Anyway, Haddish — who dated Common for about a year during the pandemic — just responded in an interview with the Washington Post to Common's quote from late 2021 after they broke up that the split was “a mutual thing.” According to Haddish, that statement is far from the truth. Haddish also responded to Common's claim that the relationship ended because they weren't “feeding the relationship” after COVID restrictions were lifted and they grew apart.

Haddish claims her breakup with Common was more one-sided than he suggests, with Common the one who was actually pulling away. Per Haddish's version of events, he chose not to invite her to several events they could have attended as a couple — most tellingly, even his own birthday party.

Haddish said, “It wasn’t mutual. It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.’ And, I was like, ‘Okay. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. Okay?'”

Both Tiffany Haddish and Common speak glowingly about their relationship prior to the breakup, they just seem to have different interpretations of how things ended. Wherever the truth lies, both A-list performers seem to have landed on their feet and have moved forward since.
