Starting off one's first season back in the NFL is never great. This is the reality that Jim Harbaugh has to face with the Los Angeles Chargers. The head honcho will be without his star signal caller in the next few weeks of Chargers training camp. This is largely because Justin Herbert suffered a tough injury. However, it looks like the squad is still gearing up just like normal.

Justin Herbert has been diagnosed with an injury to his right foot's plantar fascia. The Chargers quarterback is expected to wear a medical boot in the coming two weeks to one month. After that, Jim Harbaugh and the rest of the staff can help him get back into his normal playing condition through a graduated return-to-play protocol. He might not be able to attend Chargers training camp but it looks like he will be expected to return by the start of the season or even when their preseason campaign starts.

Regardless of Harbaugh having no new updates about Herbert, the Chargers head honcho still looked positive. He disclosed that their quarterback has still been able to attend team meetings. Moreover, Herbert is also working out with the team such that he is in shape whenever the staff and doctors deem him ready to play football again. All of which have been able to help his team get better team chemistry through Chargers training camp.

Moreover, Harbaugh discussed that practice has been going on as usual despite Easton Stick taking over the signal caller spot, via Kris Rhim of ESPN.

“Full steam ahead. The preparation and the work continue. He's not on the field in the practice, but he's in the meeting room, the training environment,” Harbaugh added.

Despite Harbaugh being gone from the NFL for quite a long while because he went to Michigan, the respect that the players have for him is still very high. Even Herbert was thrilled to be able to play under his system with the Chargers.

“It's a cool experience to be able to share that with your head coach. Whether we're pulling sleds, he expects to be the fastest or to pull the furthest. When we're carrying those med balls, he wants to go the furthest. He wants to go the fastest. And to have a guy like that set the stage, set the standard for these undrafted guys, for these rookies to see that, I think they follow in his footsteps,” the Chargers quarterback said.

Wins have been very scarce in this squad last season. Will this newfound chemistry be what it takes to push them over the top?
