The Los Angeles Chargers have downgraded kicker Michael Badgley from questionable to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Badgley is dealing with a groin injury that came to light days before the start of the regular season. He has yet to play a game. Instead of signing a new kicker, the team has employed the help of Ty Long for kicking duties.

Long, who the Chargers plucked from the CFL, has been a mixed bag as an emergency kicker for Los Angeles. In Week 1, he earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week as he made all three of his extra-point attempts and a field goal. Week 2 was a different story, as the punter made one of three field-goal attempts and his lone extra point.

Said coach Anthony Lynn on the situation on Wednesday, via the team's official website:

“We'll go with Ty [Long],” Lynn said. “We got a lot of confidence in Ty…It (missing kicks) happens. Ty’s very confident. We’re confident in Ty. If we have to kick him again, we’ll do it.”

Long wants to make it known that missing kicks in Week 2 isn't going to get to him, as he holds higher expectations for himself than everyone else:

“One kick isn’t going to define me,” Long said, via Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. “No one’s opinion is going to define me because everyone else’s expectations for me are not anywhere close to what my expectations for myself are.”

Long will get the chance to prove he can kick consistently in Week 3.
