New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has announced that he will be testing the market as a free agent this offseason. However, it seems the Los Angeles Chargers will not be among the teams looking to land his services.

The Chargers were one of the teams actively involved in the sweepstakes for Brady. According to NFL's Jim Trotter, they have now pulled themselves out of the running:

The Chargers made a serious run at Brady, but, barring a change of heart by the quarterback, the team believes it is out of the running for him.

The Chargers opted to part ways with quarterback Philip Rivers this offseason. He has since found a new home after signing a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, teams around the league taken efforts to ensure their future under center. However, it remains to be seen which direction his old team will go in.

Regardless, this has not stopped them from taking precautions to ensure that their new quarterback will be protected. They managed to provide a boost to the offensive line by signing former Green Bay Packers tackle Bryan Bulaga to a three-year deal worth up to $30 million. The only question now is which quarterback he will be blocking for as the team gets set to usher in a new era at SoFi Stadium in the 2020 NFL season.

Meanwhile, the report also eliminates another potential landing spot for Brady this offseason. This leaves the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the most notable team still interested in making a splash under center.
