Gen V introduced viewers to a whole new generation of supes learning to navigate the violent and morally questionable world of The Boys, with the magnetically-powered Andre Anderson being one of the most prominent. However, the passing of actor Chance Perdoma threw the character's future on the show into question, and one of the minds behind the Amazon Prime series has provided some answers.
The Boys creator, writer, and executive producer Eric Kripke revealed at the Gotham TV Awards, via TVLine, spoke about the lose of Perdoma and how many on Gen V are still reeling from his death. Kripke previously confirmed Perdoma's character would not be recast following Perdoma's death, and with production officially underway, Kripke said this would be reflected in how Andre Anderson is written off of Gen V.
“We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t,” Kripke said. “We’re playing the character’s death on the show. So it’s very heavy and it’s really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we’re just trying to honor Chance as best we can.”
He did not, however, offer any tease as to how the character of Andre Anderson will be written off in season two.
Gone Too Soon
Perdoma was an American-British actor who had been working working steadily since making his TV debut on the CBBC series Hetty Feather in 2017. His first big break, though, came when he was cast as Ambrose Spellman for the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He appeared as part of the series' main cast for both seasons before its cancellation by Netflix due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down production.
While he would continue landing supporting roles after Sabrina's cancellation, The Boys' spin-off would be his next big role as the character of Andre Anderson served as the series secondary protagonist behind Jaz Sinclair's Marie Moreau.
He passed away in March 2024 due to a tragic motorcycle accident while driving through upstate New York on his way to Toronto, Canada, to begin production of Gen V season two. Perdoma was 27 at the time of his death.

Hero In Training
Andre Anderson, portrayed by Perdoma, was introduced in season one of Gen V as a junior at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting who was preparing to take over the mantle of Polarity from his father. However, this is complicated throughout the season as dark secrets about the school begin to emerge and the familial ties Anderson was not aware of.
The ending, in particular, does allow a path for Anderson to have been written off in-between seasons or immediately at the start of season two without Perdoma.
Spoilers for Gen V Season One
Season one of Gen V ended with Anderson, along with Marie Moreau, Emma Meyer, and Jordan Li, all trapped in a sealed hospital room with no clue as to where they actually are. If this place is tied in any way to The Woods, which was central to the first season's mystery, then Anderson could end up being the first victim audiences see of this mysterious facility when season two begins.
Gen V is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
