World no. 10 Jordan Spieth will try to add to his trophy case starting on Thursday when the US Open tees off at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. However, Spieth's own body is standing in the way of his quest for a fourth major championship. Steve Burkowski of Golf Channel has the details.
As reported by Golf Channel's Steve Burkowski, Spieth is battling a stomach bug entering Thursday's first round at The Country Club, where Spieth began his championship at 7:29 a.m. ET.
Spieth is battling a stomach issue, one that is likely making him reach for a bottle of Pepto. The three-time PGA major winner began to feel sick on Tuesday morning, forcing him to cut his practice short after teeing just three balls at The Country Club.
The star golfer was limited each of the last two days, though his team is saying he will be about 70-75 percent for day one of the US Open. Spieth last won the tourney back in 2015, with just one finish inside the top-30 since then.
After missing the cut at the Masters and finishing tied for 34th in the PGA Championship, Spieth is hoping for better results at the US Open.
So long as his body cooperates.
