Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong nearly gave one of Revolution Radio's hits to 5 Seconds of Summer.

“Still Breathing” nearly a 5 Seconds of Summer song?

In an interview with People where he broke down the band's biggest songs, Armstrong recalled nearly writing “Still Breathing” for 5 Seconds of Summer.

“There's a band called 5 Seconds of Summer who wanted me to write a song for them,” he recalled. “All of a sudden I was writing the lyrics, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, there's no f**king way I'm giving these guys this song.' There's all those [lyrics] where it's the last moment of someone's life — it's so intense. It's just a song [from Revolution Radio] about being a survivor.”

“Still Breathing” would go on to be the second single off of Revolution Radio. Released on November 12, 2016, “Still Breathing” became a chart-topping hit.

Revolution Radio was the twelfth studio album from Green Day. The album was released on October 7, 2016.

Green Day is gearing up for the release of their fourteenth album, Saviors. The album will be released on January 19, with four singles being released to date. To promote the new album, the band has done a secret pop-up show in the New York City subway for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

This summer, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool will hit the road in support of Saviors on “The Saviors” tour. The likes of the Smashing Pumpkins, the Linda Lindas, and Rancid will support the band as an opening act. This is their first tour after their co-headlining tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer from 2021-22.

During these shows, the band will surely play some of their new tracks. Green Day also revealed that they will commemorate their albums Dookie and American Idiot by playing them in full during these shows.
