The Jacksonville Jaguars are slated to host the Miami Dolphins for a Florida showdown on Thursday night. Of course, the most notable factor of this interstate rivalry is the battle of facial hair under center between Ryan Fitzpatrick's beard and the mustache of Gardner Minshew.

Fitzpatrick was not shy about dubbing the beard is the superior facial accessory. Minshew has since fired back on behalf of all those with mustaches, via ESPN's Adam Schefter:

“I'll let mine speak for itself… but I'm gonna have respect for my elders. Especially when they're much, much elder.”

The beard versus mustache debate is one that has stood the test of time and now both quarterbacks find themselves inadvertently acting as representatives for each party. Fortunately, both sides will have their answer soon enough.

The 2020 NFL season has gotten off to a rough start for the Dolphins as they are still looking to secure their first win. Fitzpatrick has wasted no time showing off this boom-or-bust approach after throwing three interceptions in Week 1 before redeeming himself with 328 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills.

Not much was expected from the Jaguars following the fire sale that has taken place with all their notable starters in recent years. Fortunately, “Minshew Mania” is still in full effect thanks to the 512 yards and six touchdowns he threw during their 1-1 start.

Although each team is hoping to capitalize on a favorable matchup, it is safe top say that both quarterbacks are playing for something much more.
