Jalen Ramsey—the Kansas City Chief, Philadelphia Eagle, or Baltimore Raven? How about Jalen Ramsey the Jacksonville Jaguar. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jaguars are not interested in trading their 24-year-old Pro Bowl cornerback, despite him requesting a trade out earlier in the week.
Per Schefter, Ramsey is “still is adamant that he wants to be traded.” The Jaguars lack of interest doing so sets up a power struggle between team and superstar player, which will ultimately set up speculation as to whether or not he'll be a Jaguar. As of now, though, he is one.
Though Ramsey asked for a trade before the Jaguars' Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans, he still played in the game.
“Practice will offer the first clue as to Ramsey's strategy. If he participates in practice, he will appear to be going along with the team's stance. But if because of his continued unhappiness, Ramsey finds a reason not to practice, that will be a sign that the showdown is on.”
Reportedly, the Jaguars are looking for two first-round selections if they do intend on trading him. Considering that he's a 24-year-old with two Pro Bowls and an All-Pro nod to his name at a premium position, a whole around those parameters would make sense for both sides.
However, the Jaguars want him for the long run. He still has two years on his contract and has yet to hold out. He's noted that he wants to win and be paid; if Jacksonville can offer both, he may stay wearing teal and black.
