It didn't take long for fans to wonder what the future held for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce when the pair's relationship became public knowledge in 2023, with many quickly wondering if marriage was a possibility for media's newest ‘it' couple. Other celebrities are starting to get in on this speculation, though in a more humorous fashion as Kelce learned first-hand.

Kelce was on hand for the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City, a massive charity event in the city hosted by names such as Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis to help raise money for Children's Mercy hospital in Kansas City. The 2024 edition featured a live edition of the classic Saturday Night Live sketch ‘Bill Swerski's Super Fans' featuring Robert Smigel and George Wendt, both of whom appeared regularly in the SNL sketch, alongside Sudeikis as another of the Super Fans and Kelce as their special guest, according to TMZ.

Smigel and Wednt already joked about Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift, suggesting she could “foot the bill” on a new stadium for the Chiefs if they really needed it. Sudeikis decided to take it a step further and have some fun at Kelce's expense when the comic actor, in character, asked the Chiefs' tight-end about tying the knot with Swift.

“Hey … when are you going to make an honest woman out of her?” Sudeikis asked.

Kelce could only laugh as Sudeikis persisted, adding that “Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore.”

It was confirmed later that the back-and-forth was indeed staged as part of the skit, though it is not as clear if it had Swift's direct stamp of approval. Even if it did not have Swift's direct approval, it shows how aware the couple are of the public's obsession with them and the rampant speculation about their future as a couple on social media.

Unfortunately for those in attendance, Swift was not on hand to potentially stoke the jokes even further. She was still on the European-leg of her massive Eras Tour, with her set to close out the weekend with shows on Sunday and Monday in Lyon, France.

As for the jokes themselves, they were fairly common on Super Fans when the skit started on SNL in 1991.

“Daaaaaaa Bears”

Set in Ditka's in Chicago, Illinois, the skits regularly featured Smigel, Wendt, Mike Myers, and Chris Farley as the titular super fans who espoused the glory of “Da Bears” and later “Da Bulls” while enjoying mountains of fried food, barbeque, and beers. The super fans would also joke about how many heart attacks they had suffered recently, due in no small part to their diets, with some characters even suffering them over the course of the sketch.

Famed Chicago sports icons including Mike Ditka, himself, and Michael Jordan made special appearances on the sketch in the early 90s, and is occasionally brought back in live renditions for events such as Big Slick Celebrity Weekend.
