Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Jay Gruden is excited to have Gardner Minshew as his quarterback. Talking about Minshew's skills, the former Washington Redskins head coach said he has everything that you look for in a quarterback, including staying in the pocket, toughness, and being a great leader (via NFL Network's Michael Giardi).

Gruden has said before he knows he has to make sure the relationship works with Minshew. Gruden is going to introduce his offense, but he is going to make sure it plays to the rising sophomore signal-caller's strengths.

“Well, it better mesh,” Gruden said via the team transcript. “It's my job to make it mesh, you know, to take on the personality of the quarterback and get him to understand what we're trying to get accomplished on the play-to-play, game-to-game, week-to-week basis, it's going to be critical. I love Gardner's competitive spirit. You could see it shine through on tape when he was in college and obviously last year in the games he got to play. Now it's just a matter of him getting some general knowledge of our offense and me figuring out what he likes, what he doesn't like, what makes him tick and go from there. I'm pretty easy to get along with, I know he is too, so I think it will be a great relationship between the two of us.”

Gruden's last season as an offensive coordinator was in 2013 with the Cincinnati Bengals, the best year of Andy Dalton's career. If Gruden can get the best out of Minshew, the Jaguars are going to be in good shape this season. Who knows, maybe Gruden and Minshew can have a long-term relationship leading the Jaguars to success.
