Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ball discussed his admiration for Miyazaki and his Studio Ghibli works. He described his Zelda film as “this awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn't like Lord of the Rings, it's its own thing. I've always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki [film]. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that.”

A live-action Legend of Zelda film was announced last month by Nintendo. The popular video game franchise began in 1986 and they have continued releasing new games to this day. The most recent release, Tears of the Kingdom, was released in May 2023.
