Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is the type of person that wears his heart on his sleeve. He's definitely not one who keeps his feelings to himself, which is why it comes to no surprise that the Dubs veteran recently confessed his lingering bitterness towards LeBron James and the Cavs.
In a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, the Warriors forward had Darius Garland as his guest. The pair discussed Cleveland's strong season thus far as Green expressed how happy he is for his “little bro” in Garland. Dray quickly turned sour, though, when he opened up about his history with the Cavs — one that goes all the way back to the 2016 NBA Finals:

Quite frankly, everyone knows my track record with the Cavs in the finals. There’s not many people that can actually get me to root for the Cavaliers organization because we know the history. Why would I root for them? It just don’t make sense. We know the history of that. I cannot root for the Cavs. Yet, my love for D.G., my little bro, I do root for the Cavs now. So take that to the bank with y’all. I root for the Cavs now because I like to see D.G. do well, not because I love the Cavs organization because y’all still stole a f—— championship from me.”
Green admitted that he still hasn't forgotten about their heartbreaking Finals loss to LeBron and the Cavs some six years ago. That year, the Warriors set an all-time NBA record with 73 wins in the regular season. They also went up 3-1 in the Finals against an underdog Cleveland side only for LeBron and Co. to make history by being the first team to come back from such a huge deficit in the Finals.
It is clear that to this very day, Green still feels that the Warriors were robbed. Draymond was controversially suspended for the pivotal Game 5 of the series after being called for a flagrant foul on LeBron in the previous contest. Without Green, the Cavs were able to upset the Dubs in Game 5. With momentum on their side, Cleveland went on to win the next two games to clinch the title in seven games.
Green makes it no secret that he has no affection for the Cavs. Darius Garland has his full support, though, which makes him unwillingly root for Cleveland these days.
