A Kevin Durant return to the Golden State Warriors is still in the cards in this coveted free-agency period. Though while many believed Durant would seek his way out of the Bay Area in hopes to not be second fiddle to homegrown star Stephen Curry, a recent report by Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report says it is the appeal of playing alongside a talent like Curry that could keep him put:

But those sources also independently declined to completely rule out his return to Golden State for two reasons: maximum financial security and the chance to continue playing with point guard Steph Curry. While Durant said he won't be open to being recruited to a particular team, one person familiar with his current state of mind wouldn't dismiss the persuasive power of a Curry appeal.

The Warriors also boast the most financially appealing option for Durant, a five-year, $221 million max offer — $57 million more than the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, LA Clippers or any other team could offer him.

Curry and Durant have not butted heads during their three-year run together, rather building a strong on-court connection. The two constantly encouraged each other to take shots, be more aggressive and constantly push the pace, the type of encouragement that good partnerships are made of.

Perhaps it is that connection that could ultimately persuade Durant to stay grounded in The Bay when it's all said and done.
