The Green Bay Packers are one of the NFC contenders looking to get back to the Super Bowl. They are coming off a huge win against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday night.

After trading for defensive superstar Micah Parsons, the Packers are aiming to prove that they have the best defense in the NFL. Through eight weeks, the Packers are 10th in the NFL in scoring defense, with major room for improvement.

One of the players who was expected to be a star on defense is cornerback Nate Hobbs. The former Las Vegas Raider signed a $48 million contract with the Packers in the offseason.

In six games this season, Hobbs has 19 tackles (10 solo) with one pass deflection. Hobbs believes he has still been playing well and shown flashes in a recent media conversation about his benching.

“Not exactly what I wanted,” Hobbs said when asked to evaluate his play this season. “But when you play corner, it boils down to a couple plays. I have a lot of snaps where I played really good, you know what I’m saying? Really good snaps, really good plays. You take two, three plays here and there, but that’s just the life of a corner. That’s why I signed up for it.”

Hobbs then followed up by saying some luck has not been on his side on a couple of plays.

“If I’m being honest, there’s a couple plays where dudes have gotten lucky or it’s been late into the play, this, that and the third,” Hobbs said.

Cornerback is a difficult position to play. Wide receivers are some of the best athletes on the field, and their quickness makes it very tough for corners to play man-to-man in this era. Hobbs will bounce back, but he will need to rely on improving in pass coverage.
