Pederson has been a rather popular name during this offseason's coaching hunt. Aside from the Jaguars, he has been linked to the Saints, the Broncos, and the Bears as their new head coaches. In the end, the ex-Eagles coach has decided to join Jacksonville, where he'll inherit a rather young team.
Article Continues BelowDoug Pederson may be best known as the head coach for the Eagles' miraculous Super Bowl LII run, where they upset the Tom Brady Patriots. After that season, though, the Eagles failed to capitalize on their momentum, as they failed to make it back to the big stage. In the end, it led to Pederson getting fired from Philadelphia. Now, though, he has a chance to redeem himself in Jacksonville.
Pederson will have the opportunity to coach Trevor Lawrence in his second year. Lawrence's rookie season has been a disaster by all accounts. Despite the hype surrounding the first overall pick, he fell flat on his face, as he looked rough at times on the field. Perhaps a new coach will reinvigorate Lawrence's moxie next season.
Aside from Lawrence, the Jaguars will be welcoming another first overall pick next season. The future looks bright in Duval, but they'll need a good coach to put it all together. Ownership is hoping Doug Pederson will be that coach for them.
