Surprise: The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't too happy about the hit that took out their $88 million quarterback.

According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN, the Jaguars wanted Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones to get a fine for his hit on Nick Foles in the first quarter of their 40-26 loss. Jones' tackle, on a Foles touchdown 35-yard pass, broke his left clavicle. Jacksonville subsequently placed him on injured reserve; the earliest he can return is Nov. 17.

Jones didn't violently takedown Foles; rather, he fell on him with great momentum. It wasn't a dirty play by most standards. Foles knows it was more of a fluky than dirty play He said of his former Chiefs teammate:

“Chris Jones was my teammate in K.C., and I know he'd never want to do that,” Foles said, per DiRocco. “It was probably just one of those things. It was just unfortunate it happened. I landed on it wrong, and it happens in this sport. We'll keep moving forward.”

Nonetheless, the NFL didn't fine him, and the Jaguars can't do much about that. Foles is out, and Gardner Minshew is the starter. Luckily, the sixth-round pick earned the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Week award as he threw 22 for 25 for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

To backup Minshew, the team acquired Josh Dobbs in trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Minshew and the Jags will play against the Texans in Houston on Sunday, 1 p.m. ET.

Both teams are seeking wins after losing Week 1 against teams that went to conference championships in 2018.
