The Los Angeles Rams had a disappointing season immediately after making the Super Bowl a year prior. However, seasoned tackle Andrew Whitworth remains unfazed by this loss and wants to chase for that elusive Super Bowl title one last time.
The oldest offensive lineman in the NFL has made his intentions known to play for one more season. However, there's no guarantee that he will be spending 2020 with the Rams.
Per Rams Wire's Cameron DaSilva:
Article Continues BelowAndrew Whitworth is the oldest offensive lineman in the NFL, and if all goes according to plan, he’ll keep that title in 2020. He’s in the final year of his contract with the Rams but he wants to continue playing next season.
Whether that’s with the Rams or not remains to be seen, but his intention is to return to the field next season.
Of course, the Rams is always a possible destination for Whitworth. He may have started poorly, but his season is wrapping up nicely as he's showing solid displays of blocking. All Sean McVay needs to put the Rams back on the map is to retool certain aspects of the team, and Whitworth could still be a part of that retooled Rams team.
However, there are also plenty of teams that could use a lineman with his specific skill set. If things don't work out for the Rams, he could always try for other teams. He could return to the AFC North and play for any of the four teams there, including the Cincinnati Bengals. He could also head to New England and chase a ring with the fabled Bill Belichick. He could also go to Seattle or Kansas City and contend for a title there.
The possibilities for Whitworth's career projection is varied and exciting. However, he must focus on finishing the final game of the season before he can start setting up shop for teams to come and approach him.
