With the latest installment of NFL free agency now in full swing, to say the least, the Jadeveon Clowney sweepstakes have officially begun as well. Most recently, a member of the Seattle Seahawks, the longtime Houston Texans pass rusher in Clowney, is now gearing up to court quite a few suitors with the New York Giants apparently among the group.
According to a Monday evening report from Art Stapleton of The Record in New Jersey, the Giants are currently showing genuine interest in the veteran pass rusher's services. At the same time, New York is notably being categorized as “legitimate contenders.”
Still hearing #NYGiants are involved in pursuit of Jadeveon Clowney, per source. Not sure where they stand, but at least one team in that chase convinced #NYG are legitimate contenders.

The 27-year-old Clowney originally broke into the professional ranks of the NFL as the No. 1 overall pick from the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of South Carolina. Going on to spend the first five seasons of his NFL tenure as a member of the aforementioned Texans, he was then shipped across the country to the Seahawks ahead of last season.
In what could become Clowney's lone season in Seattle, he appeared in 13 regular-season games as a member of the Seahawks en route to producing 31 total tackles, three sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one interception, and three pass defenses.
Of course, the struggling Giants can presently use as much help as the once heralded NFC East can get. In addition to being linked to Clowney, the Giants have already elected to use the team's franchise tag on former New York Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams in addition to reportedly signing former Carolina Panthers cornerback James Bradberry to a lucrative, multi-year free-agent contract.
