To the surprise of no one, Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas will continue his holdout and not report for the start of training camp on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Thomas has held out for the entire offseason as he seeks a new long-term deal. He’s entering the final year of his contract and is scheduled to make $8.5 million this season.

With the Seahawks showing little desire to move on an extension, Thomas recently gave the team an ultimatum, saying that Seattle should either extend him or trade him.

The Dallas Cowboys have been persistently linked with the star safety all offseason, although there apparently doesn’t seem to be a deal forthcoming despite the media hype, in large part due to the reportedly high price the Seahawks continue to seek for Thomas in a trade. Thomas has also allegedly told Raiders owner Mark Davis to come and get him.

Given how long this contract saga has gone on, it’s hard to believe that Thomas will be too eager to remain with the Seahawks. There has already been speculation that he may already be “done” in Seattle. And unless the Seahawks suddenly offer Thomas an overly generous deal, which seems unlikely at this point, that may very well be the case.

With the departures of cornerback Richard Sherman and safety Kam Chancellor earlier this offseason, the Legion of Boom era in Seattle was already pretty much over. But Thomas' exit would just be the final nail in the coffin.
