Given how the situation between Josh Jacobs and the Las Vegas Raiders had played out ahead of the franchise tag deadline, the possibility of the running back not appearing in training camp and/or in preseason games isn't really all that wild.

That being said, it's still worth noting that Jacobs has virtually eliminated the idea of joining the team, at least in the remaining weeks before the start of the 2023 NFL regular season, by simply leaving Sin City.

Via Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network:

“#Raiders RB Josh Jacobs, who hasn’t signed his franchise tender, was spotted this morning boarding a flight leaving Las Vegas. Jacobs won’t report for training camp Tuesday and has told people close to him that he doesn’t plan to return anytime soon.”

The Raiders used their franchise tag on Jacobs for the 2023 season worth $10.091 million a year after they declined their fifth-year option on him which amounted to $8.034 million. Jacobs balled out in the 2022 NFL campaign, even leading the league with 1,653 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns on 340 carries. He also had 348 receiving yards on 54 receptions. Despite a productive season, Jacob remains unable to be on the same page with Las Vegas for a multi-year contract.

It seems that the Raiders' offseason saga with Jacobs is going to take time before it reaches a conclusion. Whether it ends in a good or ugly way for both sides is one thing that's for another discussion.

The Raiders open their 2023 NFL regular season on the road on September 10 against the Denver Broncos.
