The Swiss take on the Norwegians in a European battle at the Waikato Stadium! Check out our Women's World Cup series with this Switzerland-Norway odds, prediction, pick, and how-to-watch guide.

La Nati managed to blast two goals on either half in their encounter with the Philippines in their group opener. Ramona Bachmann and Saraina Piubel were the heroines for the Swiss club, who are looking for their second straight win in this World Cup.

The Grasshoppers were surprisingly defeated by the World Cup co-hosts in the previous match. With mixed results in all competitions this year, the 12th-best team, according to the latest FIFA women's rankings, will try to shrug off their previous defeat and get one against their fellow European competitors.

Why Switzerland Will Beat Norway

La Nati had a positive start to their World Cup campaign, securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Philippines in their group opener on Friday. Paris Saint-Germain forward Ramona Bachmann scored the opening goal from the penalty spot just before halftime, while Seraina Piubel doubled the lead in the second half.

Their latest result ended a seven-game winless streak, and they hope to build on that success in the upcoming week. In their last three matches, Switzerland drew 3-3 against Zambia and 0-0 with Morocco before winning 2-0 against the Philippines. Over their previous 10 international games in all competitions, Switzerland secured three wins, drew five, and suffered two defeats.

Switzerland currently sits atop Group A with three points from a possible three and aims to strengthen its position at the top by targeting another victory.  A draw in that game should be enough to secure them a spot in the next stage. While it's still early for definite conclusions, Switzerland can approach this match with less pressure than their opponents.

Switzerland has been impressive offensively in recent times, scoring 23 goals in their last six outings. However, they have also conceded 9 goals in those matches. Moreover, both Noelle Maritz and Ramona Bachmann have received yellow cards and could miss the next match if they receive another one.

Following their professional performance in the opening group stage fixture, it is unlikely that Switzerland will make any personnel changes. Alicia Lehmann is expected to start from the bench again, with Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic leading the attack flanked by Ramona Bachmann and Seraina Piubel, both of whom scored in the previous match on Friday. Fabienne Humm, Coumba Sow, Géraldine Reuteler, and captain Lia Wälti should also provide some production on the pitch.

Why Norway Will Beat Switzerland

The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup saw its first major surprise as Norway fell victim to New Zealand's 1-0 victory in Auckland, with the enthusiastic home crowd likely playing a key role in the outcome. They fell behind early in the game and struggled to find their way back, managing just one shot on target in the opposition box.

Considered the main favorite to advance from the group due to their rankings and reputation, Norway is now in a precarious situation where they will likely need to win both of their remaining matches to progress to the next stage. In their last three games, Norway only managed to gain a single point. They started with a 4-2 defeat against Spain, followed by a 3-3 draw with Sweden, and then the 1-0 loss to New Zealand. Over their last ten international matches in all competitions, Norway recorded two victories, three draws, and five defeats.

Notably, in games involving Norway, there has been a noticeable trend of at least one team failing to score. In their last six meetings, this has occurred five times, with their opponents scoring 11 goals while Norway managed to score 10. It remains to be seen whether this trend will continue in the upcoming match.

Hege Riise's team will be determined to bounce back from their recent results and return to winning ways in the upcoming matches. The Grasshoppers' lack of scoring efficiency, despite having players like Ada Hegerberg and Caroline Graham Hansen, is a significant concern for Riise and needs to be addressed promptly to revive Norway's diminishing tournament hopes. Thankfully, there are no reported injuries for the team. Moreover, Emilie Haavi, Guro Reiten, Frida Maanum, and captain Maren Mjelde are looking to make an impact in this match.

Final Switzerland-Norway Prediction & Pick

The Swiss should maintain that tenacity in their group opener, but Norway possesses greater hunger to secure the win here. A low-scoring battle will be witnessed with the Grasshoppers edging out La Nati.

Final Switzerland-Norway Prediction & Pick: Norway (+115), Under 2.5 goals (-152)
