The Batman 2 actor, Jeffrey Wright has shared his excitement about the upcoming film.
Speaking to ET at the Critics Choice Awards, the actor, known for his role as James Gordon in the 2022 film, responded to the news of the sequel's green light.
Wright mentioned that he hasn't seen much of the script yet. But he emphasized his intention to move forward patiently. “I don't want to jump ahead. I just want to go forward with it.”
The Lieutenant Gordon actor also acknowledged his character's position at the end of the first film. For Batman 2, Wright hinted at a potential advancement in ranks. But stressed the importance of allowing director Matt Reeves creative freedom.
I'm being patient, letting [director] Matt Reeves do his thing — which is going to be magical and wonderful — and looking forward to diving back into it when the time comes.”
The DC Studios co-chairmen and CEOs, James Gunn and Peter Safran, previously announced the release date for the sequel on October 3, 2025. Wright expressed his eagerness to dive back into the project when the time comes. Expressing confidence in Reeves' ability to deliver a magical and wonderful experience.
But besides Batman 2, Jeffrey Wright also discussed his film American Fiction. He earned a nomination for the Best Actor category for the movie and expressed gratitude for the critical acknowledgment. The Batman 2 actor highlighted the importance of appreciation for their work. Noting that being recognized means their film is being appreciated, and he hopes it will attract more viewers to theaters.
“We make these films because, strangely enough, we want people to come to the theaters and watch them.”
