The Tennessee Titans enter their Week 8 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons with a bit of a quarterback controversy on their hands. As Ryan Tannehill nurses his ankle injury, the Titans have a decision to make between Malik Willis and Will Levis.
If Tannehill were to sit, the Titans are leaning towards starting Levis, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Head coach Mike Vrabel did caution that both quarterbacks would play against the Falcons. Levis is now in line to be the first Titans quarterback to see the field.
That is of course if Tannehill doesn't play. However, the quarterback wasn't able to practice on Tuesday and things are looking bleak for his Week 8 playing status. Tennessee is looking to get ahead of his seemingly inevitable rule out by having Levis ready to perform.
When he steps onto the field, Levis will be getting into his first NFL action. The Titans selected him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Before entering the league, Levis spent two years at Penn State and two years at Kentucky, throwing for 5,876 yards and 46 touchdowns.
Tennessee drafted Malik Willis in the third round a year prior. However, he has disappointed when given an opportunity, going 1-2 as a starter. He has thrown for just 350 scoreless yards with three interceptions over his 10 NFL appearances.
The Titans seem more keen to give Will Levis an opportunity. Willis still has potential to see the field with Vrabel's strange QB game plan. However, Levis will be out there first and will look to give the Titans no reason to take him out.
