The injury bug refuses to leave the Chicago White Sox alone. Amid a disappointing campaign riddled with injuries to ley players, franchise star Tim Anderson is now going to be sidelined.

Anderson injured his groin on a defensive play against the Chicago Cubs and needed to be assisted off the field. He is set for an MRI tomorrow but White Sox manager Tony La Russa already made it clear that the All-Star shortstop will need to spend time on the IL.

With Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly and Garret Crochet still working through injuries, this season has been brutal for the White Sox. Anderson has been the team's best hitter this season, leading the Sox in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits and stolen bases.

Fortunately for the White Sox, they were able to take the final game of the 2022 Crosstown Classic series on a walk-off single from Jake Burger. However, they are just 23-23 so far and trail the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central standings. Anderson's absence will leave a massive hole in the lineup. His outstanding hitting will be nearly impossible to replicate.

After winning their division last season, the White Sox have looked nothing like that this season. At full strength, they should certainly be able to give the Twins a run for their money. But just when they will be able to get to even partial strength remains to be seen.
