With Clash at the Castle rapidly approaching, there's no member of the WWE Universe, not even Cody Rhodes, who is more of a focal point in the promotion than Drew McIntyre, the first-ever Superstar to come from the country.

On paper, it makes sense, right? McIntyre will almost certainly be headlining the show next weekend in Glasgow, and if he wins, it will be one of the biggest moments not just in his career but in the history of Scottish wrestling too.

And yet, McIntyre isn't the only Scottish wrestler who is succeeding in 2024, and in an interview with Cultaholic, the “Scottish Warrior” put over one of his fellow countrymen for consistently finding ways to put himself over in an industry that's often all too focused on what the booker wants behind the scenes: Joe Hendry.

“I do believe in Joe Hendry. I do. He's doing awesome, and I'm very, very proud of him, especially, you know, getting the song so high up in the charts and caused as much buzz as he's caused,” Drew McIntyre told Cultaholic via WrestleTalk. “He's deserved a big opportunity for a long time, and thankfully he's been able to showcase himself on IMPACT, and I'm sure it's just going to keep going up and going up. The sky's the limit. He can do it all. He's very talented in the ring and obviously on the microphone. But the videos are next level, and I'm sure the fans of this channel have seen the ‘I'm Drew' video to the tune of [Eiffel 65's]'  I'm Blue.' If you haven't, then check it out. But hopefully, this clip will end up on the dirty shirts cause everything I say ends up there [laughs]. “Check out Joe Hendry's ‘I'm Drew,' which I did not watch prior. I wanted my legit reaction, and I was laughing my head off the whole time when I was supposed to be angry.”

Now, for fans out of the know, McIntyre and Hendry worked a program together in Insane Championship Wrestling almost a decade ago, and the “I'm Drew” video was so good it now has 485,000 views on YouTube because of the TNA star's transcendent ability to connect with fans not just with his in-ring work or on-mic skills but with his musicality too. While he may not be on the Clash at the Castle card like McIntyre and his fellow Scottish Superstar Piper Niven, don't be surprised if Hendry ends up on a grander stage if his stock continues to grow into the future.

Drew McIntyre dares CM Punk to try something at Clash at the Castle.

Elsewhere in his conversation with Cultaholic, Drew McIntyre was asked about CM Punk, who played a major part in ending his first run with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Is the “Scottish Warrior” worried about the “Best in the World” doing that again? Nope, as he knows that if Punk tries that in Scotlash, he'll have more than just a “Scottish Psychopath” to worry about.

“I think it would be a mistake for a number of reasons after what happened last time at Clash, I really do not want something like that to happen again to the UK… This is Glasgow… this is Scotland, this is different,” Drew McIntyre advised. “I would strongly suggest not getting involved or doing anything to rock the boat during this show as there's a genuine chance you'll get jumped. I'm not even joking. And there's a genuine chance the security guards won't stop them because they're Scottish as well. I'm telling you, there's a good chance you'll get jumped, and security will help jump you if you get involved in my match.”

While McIntyre doesn't want to see Punk at Clash at the Castle, he has suggested that there could be some pro-Scottland additions to his presentation, be that Ally McCoist or another athletic legend.

“I'd love Ally McCoist to walk me to the ring, but I don't know if he'll be available with the Euros going on. But I'd be like, ‘Hey Ally, jump in the private plane, get the plane Friday. I'm fighting Sheamus in the dark match on Friday', which would be crazy, then the big match on Saturday. But I got a few people in mind. I get a few buddies I'm talking to that'll hopefully come along, you know, Tom Stoltman and his brother Luke will be there, Tom was the world's strongest man three times. Six foot eight, 400lb good to have in my corner. Greg Hemphill, Rab Florence will be coming along, a couple of buddies, but like huge comedians in Scotland, literally been quoting Greg's comedy bits my entire life since I was a kid. So, will have a few people there, and hopefully cheering me on. And if anybody tries to get involved, get smashed by the Stoltman Brothers. So just try to get involved.”

CM Punk, take note: if you come at McIntyre in Scotland, he'd better come correct, as it's clear he'll have a posse with him for his match against Damian Priest.
