When Booker T and Vic Joseph broke the news that Shotzi, the Blackheart-turned-Edward Scissorhands enthusiast, would be returning to NXT for the third-straight year to host the spookiest show of the year, Halloween Havoc, it got fans hyped as you-know-what.

Now sure, this year's edition of the show – and Shotzi – are a bit different than what fans are used to, as the event will be split over two weeks and Shotzi is working with a very different character than what NXT fans are used to but based on her appearances in developmental so far this month, it's clear the general unhinged energy of Blackheart's current character is being toned down in favor of a more Elvira-esque presentation.

Discussing her return to NXT in a special interview with Steve Fall of Wrestling News, Shotzi explained why she was so excited to return to NXT and how she's ready to channel her inner Elvira.

“I even joked about it when I first got signed. I was like, man, I wish we could bring back Halloween Havoc because we started doing that,” Shotzi said via Fightful. “We were taking a bunch of old pay-per-views and bringing them back. I was like, man, when is Halloween Havoc gonna get a chance? Then I got a phone call saying, ‘Hey, we’re gonna bring back Halloween Havoc, we want you to be the host,’ and I just died. I was like, this is my dream come true. I’m dressed up like Elvira right now, and she’s my gal. She was the first woman to be the role model for Halloween Havoc. So I’m stepping in her shoes, and she’s my favorite person ever, so I’m really excited.”

Discussing what makes the show Halloween Havoc so special, Shotzi noted the wheel of gimmick matches she – or someone in WWE creative – put together that will allow performers like Roxanne Perez and Gigi Dolin to take part in some very unusual in-ring opportunities.

“I am loving that we are seeing so many women come in today and doing not just regular matches, like Devil’s Playground matches, Lights Out matches,” Shotzi said. “This is a dream come true. So I’m super excited. I will be definitely watching as a fan. My girl Roxanne is in there, Gigi Dolin is getting down tonight, so I am super excited.”

What exactly is a Devil's Playground match, let alone a Lights Out match? Well, while fans won't know the exact layouts of each offering until Halloween Havoc kicks off in the not-too-distant future, it's safe to say both will be hardcore offerings that feature plenty of plunder, plenty of interesting spots outside of the ring, and plenty of fun spots that will land on highlight reels for years to come. Buckle up, folks, this is gonna be fun.

Shotzi explains why she shaved her head on RAW.

While some fans may think that the only reason Shotzi shaved her head on national television was to show off her new, cracked psyche, in actuality, the decision was a tribute to her sister, who is currently being treated with chemotherapy for liver cancer.

“My sister was going through chemotherapy, and she started losing her hair. She told me that she didn't want to wait for it to all fall out,” Shotzi told Wrestling News. “She was going to shave it off. I immediately went to Hunter and was like, ‘Hey, my sister's going through chemo. I want to support her. I want to be there for her. I want to shave my hair off too. Can we make it not weird and make it part of a storyline so I don't just show up one day with no hair', and he was totally for it. I got to work with Bayley with it too, which Bayley has always been a huge role model to me, so to have that moment with her and share this meaningful moment with her was really awesome. I didn't really say much of it, but like, everyone kind of knew anyway, and that really resonated with my sister, and she got like a lot of support from my fans, which I really love and appreciate too.”

While it makes sense that WWE didn't publically acknowledge Shotzi's sister's diagnosis, as it would have severely altered the story being told, it's pretty cool of WWE and Paul “Triple H” Levesque to allow his green-haired babyface to try something new and do so in honor of her sister, even if the actual story being told is a bit up-in-the-air at the moment.
