Safe to say, Fantastic Four star Ebon Moss-Bachrach was not a Marvel Comics reader growing up.

Speaking to Variety at The Bear Season 3 premiere, Moss-Bachrach discussed the types of non-Marvel Comics that he read growing up. Elfquest was one of the comics he name-dropped.

“I was a comic book fan, but the comic books I read when I was a kid were more like the chapter kind of ones I could get from the five-cent bin,” he revealed.

He went on to name Archie, Richie Rich, Groo, and Elfquest as well. He even said that some of his “earliest sexual visions” were Elfquest-themed.

As for being cast in a major MCU project, Moss-Bach was asked if he ever imagined starring in such a project. “Of course not,” Moss-Bachrach said. “It's all pretty crazy.”

The MCU

Currently, the MCU has been on a skid. Their 2023 movies largely disappointed at the box office (with the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3). Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania made just $476 million and The Marvels is the lowest-grossing MCU movie ever ($206 million).

That said, they have Deadpool and Wolverine coming in July 2024. This is the lone feature film coming out this year for Marvel Studios. They are likely hoping that the team-up movie can rejuvenate the franchise's luck at the box office.

Coming up, Fantastic Four will commence Phase Six of the MCU. The franchise is getting back on track as 2025 will feature four movies being released.

First up is Captain America: Brave New World (February 14). Thunderbolts (May 5), Fantastic Four (July 25), and Blade (November 7) are set to follow.
