The first Inside Out introduced audiences to the five key emotions that existed inside young Riley's mind, and those emotions are about to get some company as Riley enters her teenage years in Inside Out 2. While the four new emotions of Envy, Anxiety, Embarrassment, and Ennui have already been introduced, Pixar has introduced a fifth new emotion set to join the others.

Fans got their first look at Riley's fifth new emotion, Nostalgia, as she made her entrance into the emotions' control room in one of the film's latest TV spots. Nostalgia is set to be voiced by by longtime stage and screen actor June Squibb in what will be her third film with Pixar following Toy Story 4 and Soul.

Nostalgia is shown to resemble a happy, elderly woman fittingly reminiscing about “the good old days,” even if those days were mere moments before, though it still isn't clear how much of a role she will have in the overall narrative.

Squibb's acting career began in 1959 on the Broadway musical Gypsy, where she served as the replacement actor for the character Electra. She would go on to perform in four other Broadway productions afterwards, the most recent being the 2016 revival of Waitress.

The longtime character actor wouldn't make the jump to screens until the early 90s, when she would regularly land supporting roles in various shows and films including Law and Order, Scent of a Woman, and The Age of Innocence.

Squibb would ultimately land her first true leading role, though, at the age of 94 with the comedy film Thelma, set to release in June 2024. She is also set to star in Scarlett Johansson's directorial feature debut Eleanor the Great, though no release date has been announced.

Bottle Up The Emotions

Inside Out 2 picks up a year after the end of the first film as Riley turns 13 as Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger continue to try and guide her from insider Riley's mind. Things begin to change quickly, though, as becoming a teenager brings with it a suite of new emotions entering the picture, led by Anxiety. The situation inside Riley's mind starts to become even more complicated when the new emotions attempt to take over command of Riley's mind and bottle up the original five emotions.

Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black are all set to reprise their roles as Joy, Sadness, and Anger from the first film, while Tony Hale and Liza Lapira will be taking over as Fear and Disgust from Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling, respectively. Kensington Tallman is also taking over from Kaitlyn Dias as Riley for Inside Out 2.

Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan are also returning as Riley's parents.

Maya Hawke is set to lead the new group of emotions as Anxiety, while Ayo Edibiri, Paul Walter Hauser, and Adele Exarchopoulos join her as Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui.

Inside Out 2 is scheduled to release in theaters on June 14, 2024.
