Fans wondered for years if Marvel Studios would ever bring anyone or anything from Netflix's small corner of the Marvel universe into the MCU properly, and it is finally happening with the additions of Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Jon Bernthal's Punisher, among others. While this appears to have opened the door to see other characters make the jump, one who does not appear to be making the jump in the near future is Luke Cage according to the man, himself.

Mike Colter sat down with ComicBook to discuss his current series, Evil, when the conversation shifted to his time as Luke Cage on the titular Netflix series. While he did sound open to the possibility of returning to the role, Colter made it clear he doesn't “look in the past” and is only keeping his focus on what's ahead of him.

“I don't stay up at night thinking about it, nor do I recall it unless someone brings it up,” Colter told the website. “But I enjoyed my time. I don't look in the past. If something comes up, great, we'll talk about it. But right now, I'm [past it].”

“I mean, I would totally entertain a good script and idea that made sense.”

Colter's fellow Netflix veterans Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have already made their proper MCU debuts, with Cox cameoing in Spider-Man: No Way Home before appearing again in She-Hulk Attorney at Law and Echo ahead of his new series, Daredevil: Born Again. D'Onofrio made his MCU debut in the season finale of Hawkeye before returning for Echo, as well, and is set to co-star in Daredevil: Born Again opposite Cox.

Bernthal is set to reprise his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, for the Disney Plus series along with the returning Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Hensen as Foggy Nelson.

The Hero of Harlem

Colter's own time as Luke Cage kicked off in season one of Jessica Jones, where he had a short-lived relationship with the private investigator while he looked into the death of his wife, Reva Connors. The two had a falling out after it was revealed Jones killed Connors while under Kilgrave's control, with Cage temporarily falling under Kilgrave's control near the end of the season.

Cage returned to lead his own series that sees the character trying to live a quieter life in Harlem after the events of Jessica Jones. However, he is thrust into a battle for Harlem's soul against notorious crime boss Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, portrayed by Mahershala Ali, that forces Cage to confront the past that left him with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin.

Things came to a head in the 2017 miniseries The Defenders, which saw Cage team up with Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones to thwart a mysterious plot by The Hand that threatened New York City.

In the aftermath, Cage becomes a local celebrity by the start of Luke Cage season two that finds himself battling a true equal in the dangerous Bushmaster, who plans to fill the void left behind by Cottonmouth's demise in season one.
