New Washington Wizards recruit Robin Lopez has come out with an awe-inspiring explanation as to why he was not part of the NBA delegation that recently made a trip to the Vatican City to meet with the pope.
Lopez took to Twitter to provide an elaborate theory as to why he believes the NBA made the right decision in not sending him to meet Pope Francis:
I can only assume the NBA didn't send me along to meet the Pope because they figured I'd get to eventually meet him after discovering the Ark of the Covenant or saving his life on a Carnival cruise ship or starring in Mission Impossible IX or something. Good thinking!

That makes no sense at all, but it makes for some good comedy — something that we have now come to expect from Lopez.
Lopez will be bringing his unique sense of humor to Washington after the 7-foot center recently agreed to terms on a deal with the Wizards. He joins the D.C. squad which isn't exactly in the best of places right now.

There has been some back and forth between the Wizards front office and star point guard John Wall. The former All-Star reportedly demanded for a trade away from the team, which was recently refuted by team general manager Tommy Sheppard. As it turns out, the Wizards brass have no intention of letting Wall walk away, despite reports of a botched trade to the Houston Rockets involving Russell Westbrook.
Unsurprisingly, Lopez had something hilarious to say about the whole John Wall saga.
Last season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Lopez averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 14.5 minutes off the bench. It remains to be seen if he will be provided with a bigger role with the Wizards this coming season.
