New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning isn't the same quarterback that won the franchise two Super Bowls and one former team executive thinks it's time for the team to move on from him. Marc Ross, the Giants’ former vice president of player evaluation said that it's time the team moves on from Manning although he questioned if the guy that would replace him is the right guy to lead the team.

“I think that’s what you have to do,’’ Ross said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show via The New York Post. “This is where they are right now. Their fortunes are tied to Kyle Lauletta, who was drafted in the fourth round out of Richmond. Wow. This is what they’re really banking on. They can’t get worse. You might as well try something different and see what happens.’’

The Giants are 1-7 this season and last year they went 3-13 and a big part of that is the play of Manning. In eight games, he has only thrown eight touchdowns and has also had six interceptions. Ross said in the NFL it's important to move forward and not back and that's why they need to move on from Manning.

“In the NFL you have to move forward,’’ Ross said. “You can’t go backwards. At this point I think everybody kind of knows that you have to move forward. You have to move on if you want to win. What is your goal? Is it to win? Make people happy? Or sacrifice other things to keep reputations in line?’

At this point, it seems clear that Manning is clearly no longer the answer the Giants at quarterback moving forward. They must now make the most of the second half of the season to find out what they have in Lauletta, despite his recent arrest, in order to determine if he's capable of succeeding Manning.
