Ryan Reynolds has teased a Deadpool appearance in the upcoming MCU movie Avengers 5.
In an Instagram post, Reynolds posted a GIF of the MCU Avengers logo on a flag. A logo resembling the anarchist logo is drawn over it in black.

He did not include any caption with the post. However, fans in the comments went crazy with their theories. “Anarchist Avengers?” one Instagram user replied. Another theorized, “Deadpool has taken over the Avengers.”
This would seemingly imply Deadpool will have something to do with the Avengers soon. After all, his upcoming third solo movie is his first adventure in the MCU. Since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, they can utilize Deadpool in any of their projects. Perhaps Deadpool will be used in the upcoming Avengers 5 or Secret Wars.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
While Reynolds is famous for roles in The Proposal and the Croods series, Deadpool has become his signature role. He first played the role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
That was not a proper iteration of the character, though. Almost seven years later, Deadpool was released directed by Tim Miller. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick co-wrote the script and co-wrote the sequel's script with Reynolds.
The upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine is a joint effort between Reese, Wernick, Reynolds, and Levy, who all co-wrote the script. As the title suggests, Reynolds will team with Wolverine played by a returning Hugh Jackman. Previously, Jackman's iteration of the character died in James Mangold's 2017 movie Logan.
In Deadpool and Wolverine, the two are on a mission provided by the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Emma Corrin will play the main antagonist, Cassandra Nova, and Matthew Macfadyen will play Paradox, a TVA agent.
Ryan Reynolds' relationship with Shawn Levy dates back to 2021's Free Guy. The next year, Reynolds starred in The Adam Project with Walker Scobell, Jennifer Garner, and Mark Ruffalo.
Similarly, Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman goes back with Levy as well. Jackman starred in Levy's 2011 movie Real Steel which featured future MCU star Evangeline Lilly.
MCU Avengers
The Avengers have been the anchor of the MCU since its conception. Iron Man commenced the cinematic universe with Robert Downey Jr. at the helm. After solo movies for Hulk, Captain America, and Thor, The Avengers was released.
Three sequels would follow — Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame. All four movies made over $1 billion at the box office (both Infinity War and Endgame grossed over $2 billion).
Endgame ended with major implications for the MCU. Iron Man died and Captain America (Chris Evans) effectively retired. Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) are still out there, but a new team will be assembled.
Avengers 5 is rumored to feature 60 characters in the movie. Shawn Levy, who directed Deadpool and Wolverine, is also rumored to direct it. Both of those factors could weigh in on Reynolds' Deadpool making an appearance in the upcoming movie.
