Amazon Studios emerged victorious in a close auction for the rights to purchase The Dwelling, an unpublished short story by Aaron Jayh. The deal was sealed for a high-six figure sum, with Michael B. Jordan and Liz Raposo's Outlier Society attached to produce. Jordan is also rumored to potentially star in the film adaptation of the mind-bending story.

The short story tells the tale of a newly divorced father who discovers a mysterious house buried in his backyard, Deadline reveals. The man is a former all-pro football player, and his past injuries start to make him question what is real and what is imagined as events begin to spiral out of control.

Several studios placed bids for the rights to The Dwelling, but Amazon and Netflix ultimately emerged as the top contenders. Outlier Society will produce the film alongside Ground Control's Scott Glassgold, with Aaron Guzikowski, best known for writing Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners and Apple TV's Raised by Wolves, attached as the screenwriter.

For Outlier Society, this is an excellent moment, as they are coming off the massive success of Creed III, which has grossed over $250 million globally in just four weeks. Michael B. Jordan has nearly become synonymous for his ability to portray fantastic male leads, making him an ideal choice to play the former NFL player at the center of The Dwelling.
