The MLB offseason is essentially waiting on Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani. The phenom is expected to finalize his next team sometime soon, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have been rumored as the favorites for a long time.

On Tuesday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that Ohtani was at Dodger Stadium and he spoke on the visit, per Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.

‘Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team met with Shohei Ohtani in Los Angeles a couple days ago for two to three hours. “Clearly,” he said, “Shohei’s our top priority.”'

Ohtani's next contract is going to be a record-breaking one with whatever team lands him, and earlier on Tuesday, reports surfaced that the Chicago Cubs are essentially out of the running for him.

Ohtani hit .304 with 44 home runs and 95 RBI last season and posted a 10-5 record with a 3.14 ERA as a two-way sensation. He underwent elbow surgery and could be forced to pitch less in 2024 and beyond, although that will be determined by his next team.

Other teams interested include the Angels, San Francisco Giants, and the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Atlanta Braves were also mentioned as a suitor earlier in the week during the Winter Meetings.

The Dodgers fell short of the World Series in 2023 and are expected to be heavy players in free agency, and landing Ohtani would almost immediately make them as the MLB favorite with a ton of other weapons on the roster.

Time will tell but it sure seems that the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes are coming to a close.
