Just after news of a new biopic about Richard Simmons that will star Pauly Shore was released, the workout guru posted his unapproval on social media.

The news obviously triggered a reaction in Simmons, who mentioned that it’s an unauthorized movie he’s no part of, PEOPLE reports.

The 75-year-old took to Facebook and addressed the announcement.

“Hi Everybody!” the caption reads. “You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read.”

He added, “I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support.”

He then signed it with his name.

Less than three hours after he posted the message, he elaborated on a few things due to the influx of media wanting to know more.

“Hello,” he starts with. “I have received quite a few media inquiries about the authenticity of my post. I have not had a manager or publicist for years.”

The ’80s icon added, “If there are any more media inquiries, please email them through the contact page on my website at RichardSimmons.com. Love, Richard.”

Richard Simmons’s biopic will star Pauly Shore as the lead character. The Wolper Organization is producing it, and they told Variety, “While we would love to have [Simmons] involved, we respect his desire to privacy and plan to produce a movie that honors him, celebrates him and tells a dramatic story.”
