Eagles vs. Giants: Strengths and Weaknesses

There might not be a better current example in the NFL of how much a quarterback matters than Jaxson Dart

He isn’t the best QB in the NFL, he isn’t elite, he isn’t a winner yet and he isn’t the best quarterback in this game. But since putting Dart under center the Giants have something they haven’t had in a very long time — optimism.

Even if they aren’t winning at a high clip, the Giants finally believe they can win then they go out on the field. If they didn’t allow 33 points in the 4thQ vs the Broncos they would be 3-1 with Dart under center with two quality wins. You could tell by their reaction after the game that they are now frustrated when they lose as opposed to expecting it.

Dart is the spark plug but he isn’t the only part of the team that has improved.

The offensive line is better than past years. The defensive line is very good and probably the strength of the team. The running game with Cam Skattebo is improved. The receivers and the secondary are not strengths, but obviously a big part of that is losing Malik Nabers for the season.

All that being said — they are still at absolute best an average NFL team. They aren’t really elite at anything.

But as the Eagles found out two weeks ago and the Broncos almost found out last week that might not matter. The Giants play hard and they believe. That is most of the battle in the NFL.

This would be a bad loss by the Eagles but it is not the automatic win that it has been over the last few years.
