Other newbies on the list are Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers), Jeffrey Wright (Best Actor for American Fiction), Sterling K. Brown (Best Supporting Actor for American Fiction), Danielle Brooks (Best Supporting Actress for The Color Purple) and Sandra Hüller (Best Actress for Anatomy of a Fall).
Cillian Murphy
Murphy is best known for playing Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders which ran from 2013 to 2022. The actor has been nominated for Best Actor in the Academy Awards for playing the titular role in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. He has previously won in that category in this year's BAFTAs, Critics' Choice,
America Ferrera
Ferrera is best known for playing the titular character in Ugly Betty from 2006 to 2010. For this year's Oscars, she has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Barbie. She has also been nominated for the same category for this year's Critics' Choice Movie and SAG Awards. The actress won Movie Performance of the Year at the People's Choice Awards.
Colman Domingo
Before being nominated for this year's Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, Domingo was best known for him Emmy-winning role as Rue's (Zendaya) sponsor in Euphoria and as Victor Strand in Fear the Walking Dead. He has also been nominated for the same category for the 2024 BAFTAs, Critics' Choice, Golden Globes and the SAG Awards.
Emily Blunt
Blunt is best known for playing as Miranda Priestly's (Meryl Streep) first assistant Emily in 2006's The Devil Wears Prada. For this year's Academy Awards, she has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Oppenheimer. She has also nominated been for the same category in the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and SAG Awards.
Lily Gladstone
Gladstone's breakout role earned her this year's nomination for an Oscar for Killers of the Flower Moon. She has also been nominated for the same category at the Golden Globes (won), SAG (won) and Critics' Choice Awards.
Da'Vine Joy Randolph
Randolph, much like Gladstone, received her Oscar nomination for her breakout role in The Holdovers for Best Supporting Actress. She has also been nominated for the same category at the BAFTAs (won), Critics' Choice (won), Golden Globes (won), and SAG Awards (won).
Jeffrey Wright
Wright is best known for playing as one of the angels in the Broadway and limited series Angels in America for which he won both a Tony and a Prime Time Emmy. He is nominated for this year's Academy Awards for Best Actor in American Fiction. He has also been nominated for this category at the Critics' Choice, Golden Globes an SAG Awards.
Sterling K. Brown
Brown is best known for playing Randall Pearson in the TV series This Is Us from 2016 to 2022, for which he won a Primetime Emmy for Best Actor and as Prince N'Jobu in 2018's Black Panther. He is nominated for this year's Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in American Fiction. He has also been nominated for this category at the Critics' Choice and SAG Awards.
Danielle Brooks
Brooks is best known for playing Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in Orange is the New Black from 2013 to 2019. For this year's Academy Awards, she has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Color Purple. She has also been nominated for this category at the BAFTAs, Critics' Choice, Golden Globes and the SAG Awards.
Sandra Hüller
German actress Hüller stands out as the only one on this list with two film nominated at this year's Academy Awards: The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall. She has been nominated for this year's Oscars for Best Actress for the former. The actress has also been nominated for the same category at the BAFTAs (also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Zone of Interest), Critics' Choice and the Golden Globes. She won the César Awards (French Oscars) for Best Actress for Anatomy of a Fall.
